1). Rajasthan Assembly passed the Rajasthan Vexation Litigation Prevention Bill, 2015 by voice vote to prevent filing of baseless cases and to check the misuse of law for personal benefits
·         Rajasthan became the 5th state to pass such legislation after the following 4 states
a.    Goa
b.    Gujarat
c.    Madhya Pradesh
d.    Maharashtra
·         Features of the Bill are as follows
a.    This bill will prevent filing of baseless cases and to check the misuse of law for personal benefits
b.    It will reduce Vexation Litigation i.e., legal proceeding or action initiated maliciously and without Probable Cause by an individual solely to harass or subdue an opponent or adversary
c.    It covers both civil and criminal cases in the High Court and subordinate courts
·         Apart from this bill Rajasthan Assembly also passed the following 2 amendment bills
a.    Prisons (Amendment) Bill, 2015 – to improve the efficiency of prisons in the state and also keep a check on violence and gang wars in the prison
b.    Rajasthan Police (Amendment) Bill, 2015 – to impose monetary fine of Rs. 500 on anyone who creates a nuisance on the road and obstructions or causes injuries to a person or damages property for the 1st time, Rs. 5000 for the 2nd time and Rs. 10,000 and 8 days in jail for the 3rd time



2). India and Pakistan agreed to exercise restraint and work to defuse the situation on Line of Control (LoC) which has been witnessing repeated ceasefire violations
·         This decision was taken at the Indo-Pak Flag Meeting held at Chakan-da-Bagh LoC crossing point in Poonch sector of Jammu & Kashmir
·         This is the 1st Flag Meeting between both countries held at the level of Brigadiers
·         In this meeting both the nations also addressed a host of issues regarding ongoing ceasefire violations, sniping action and targeting of civilians on the LoC
·         The meeting was represented by the following dignitaries from both the nations
a.   Indian Brigadier H. S. Sareen
b.    Pakistan Brigadier Osman
·         This meeting was held after 20 days of heavy firing and shelling by Pakistani troops in Poonch district along the LoC



3). Vikram Pawah appointed as the Managing Director of Harley Davidson India
·         He succeeded Anoop Prakash who was appointed as the Managing Director of Harley Davidson Canada
·         Previously Pawah worked with Jay Engineering Works Ltd.
·         He has also served as the Assistant Vice President and Operating Head Sales with Honda Cars Ltd.
·         He will now be responsible for the following operations in Harley Davidson India to expand the company’s presence in the country
a.    In-country sales
b.    Dealer network management
c.    Marketing
d.    Service and operation activities



4). Dr. P. Sivakumar promoted as Distinguished Scientist by the Union Defence Ministry in recognition of his diligence and dedication in self-reliance effort for defence combat vehicle systems and sub-systems
·         He has been instrumental in developing various critical systems for the Indian armed forces
·         Presently he is the Director of Combat Vehicles Research and Development Establishment (CVRDE) Avadi, Tamil Nadu
·         He has been involved in development of the following products for Indian defence industry
a.    Carrier Command Post Tracked Vehicle
b.   Arjun MBT Mark – II
c.    Unmanned Ground vehicles
·         He had also worked in Design and Development of Transmission systems for tracked and wheeled vehicles application
·         Awards & Honors won by Dr. Sivakumar are as follows
a.    Fellowship of National Academy of Engineering
b.    Scientist of the Year Award 2010 of DRDO for his active role in the Arjun MBT project management




5). Two Public Sector units Bharat Dynamics Ltd. (BDL) and Electronics Corporation of India Ltd.(ECIL) signed a MoU to develop missile electronics and weapon support systems for major defence projects jointly
·         BDL – an unit under the Ministry of Defence
·         ECIL – an unit under the Department of Atomic Energy
·         The MoU was signed by the following dignitaries
a.    Chairman & Managing Director of BDL – V. Udaya Bhaskar
b.    Chairman & Managing Director of ECIL – P. Sudhakar
·         This joint venture will enable both the organizations to operate in the following areas for upcoming defence programmes
a.    Missiles
b.    Underwater weapon systems



6). Indian Coast Guard commissioned 2 new ships Fast Patrol Vessel ICGS Apoorva andInterceptor Boat C-421
·         The ships were flagged off from the naval dockyard in Mumbai, Maharashtra by Vice Admiral SPS Cheema, Flag Officer Commanding in Chief of Western Naval Command
·         Fast Patrol Vessel ICGS Apoorva
a.   14th fast patrol vessel in a series of 20 which is 50m long and can achieve a top speed of 33 knots and displaces 317 tonnes
b.   Apoorva or Unparalleled will be based at Goa
c.    The ship was indigenously designed and built by Cochin Shipyard Ltd. at Surat, Gujarat
d.    It consists with state-of-the-art advanced communication, navigational and weapons
·         Interceptor Boat C-421
a.    It is 27th series of interceptor boats of Indian Coast Guard
b.    It was designed and constructed by Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Ltd.
c.    It will be based at Androth, Lakshadweep & Minicoy Islands under the operational and administrative control of the Commander, Coast Guard district Headquarters No. 12
d.   It is water jet propelled vessel and can achieve a maximum speed of 45 Knots




7). Left-Wing Syriza Party led by Alexis Tsipras emerged as the largest party in the Greece General Election
o   Syriza party won 144 seats out of the total 300 seat Parliament
o   This comprises of 35% of total votes
o   This is the 2nd election victory for the Syriza party
o   Conservative New Democracy Party became as the 2nd largest party by winning 75seats
o   Golden Dawn became the 3rd largest party by winning 18 seats




8). Cow declared as the National Animal of Nepal as per the new secular Constitution of the country
·         Cow is considered as a sacred animal to Hindus
·         With this declaration the animal, Cow has been provided with constitutional protection and cow slaughter has also been banned
·         Nepal is a Hindu country hence Cow was made the national animal




9). The Indian Wushu team won 12 medals at the 5th International Pars Wushu Cup held in Tehran
·         Wushu – a traditional Chinese sports is an exhibition and a full contact sport derived from traditional Chinese martial arts
·         It became an international sport through the International Wushu Federation (IWUF) which organizes the World Wushu Championships every 2 years
·         In the previous edition held at Zenjan, Iran India won 2 silver and 3 bronze medals
·         The event was held from 19th to 20th September 2015
·         These 12 medal comprises of the following
a.    1-gold medal
b.    4-silver medals
c.    7-bronze medals
·         Indian Budhachandra Singh won the gold medal by defeating Masod Ansari (Iran) in the56kg category
·         Mukhesh Choudhary and Rajani Deori won silver medal in the event
